UHS Key Club earns 16 awards at District Convention

Key Club Seniors

Unaka High School Key Club recently received numerous awards! We’re proud of the work they’re doing under the leadership of Advisor Kayla Clawson and Club President Jaida Walters! On March 6, club seniors presented to our Kiwanis Club their numerous projects and successes. Ms. Walters said, “Being in Key Club really opens doors for you with scholarships, volounteer opportunities and relationships with people in the community.”

Accomplishments in 2017-18:

  • Police Officer and SRO Appreciation Day
  • Creation of 72 fidget aprons for local seniors at nursing homes
  • Senior citizen prom
  • Volunteering at Pancake Day and Kiwanis Anniversary Dinner, Ronald McDonald House, Second Harvest, Book It to the Bridge,
  • Battle of the Belts with Niswonger
  • Attendance at Fall Rally
  • Toy drive for kids in partnership with the Sheriff’s Auxiliary (toys donated valued over $10,000)
  • Promotion of club to younger grades at freshmen orientiation

Awards earned at District Convention:

1. Most Outstanding Clubber for the Kentucky-Tennessee District of Key Club-Axi Erickson
2. Most Outstanding Clubber for Division 7 of the Kentucky-Tennessee District of Key Club-Jaida Walters
3. 1st place Individual Service to the Ronald McDonald House-Sydney Markland
4. Key Club Distinguished Club-Diamond Level
5. Dues on Time Award
6. Outstanding Service Silver Level Fundraising for Ronald McDonald House
7. Second place Ronald McDonald House Pop Tab Contest
8. Third place Club Overall Service to Ronald McDonald House
9. First place Non-Traditional Scrapbook
10. First Place Major Emphasis Award
11. First Place Single Service Project
12. Third Place Club Video Contest
13. Third Place Achievement Report
14. Second Place Traditional Scrapbook
15. Second Place Non Digital Poster Contest
16. Outstanding KT District Faculty Advisor Award-Kayla Clawson
