Crystal Carter, Director of United Way of Elizabethton/Carter County last week detailed the successes of the campaign last year and announced a larger fundraising goal of $130,000 this year. On top of financially supporting more than 10 local organizations annually, Uway also works within the community to create sustainable resources in areas like drug prevention, early literacy, access to potable water, clothing closets, and more. Carter has been Director for just over a year, and has significantly increased the role of Uway in the local community. This year, her focus is on early literacy and opioid addiction resources, in addition to campaigning for organizations like Red Cross, Isaiah House, CHIPs, Boys and Girls Club, and more.
